Since Monday of this week Pixelogic version 5 completed rolling out to all users and the feedback has been coming in fast. Despite beta testing with 100 users (who are awesome by the way, thank you beta testers!), there were bound to be some issues with a refresh this large. Fortunately, the bug fixes are coming in fast, with version 5.0.1 already out and 5.0.2 coming in the next few days.
5.0.1 - Out now
Fixed issue where left-side hints were not visible on iPhones with iOS ‘Display Zoom’ setting enabled
Fixed bug where past daily puzzles were not unlocked for some users who previously had them unlocked. If this is you, go to Pixelogic settings, scroll down and tap ‘Restore purchases’ to fix the issue.
Ability to move tool controls to either of the four corners of the screen is back. Just go to Pixelogic settings > Gameplay > Game controls and update to what you prefer. This works not just on iPad, but iPhone too!
5.0.2 - Coming soon, waiting for Apple review
Fixed tile selection lag and improved zoom lag for the vast majority of devices!
Bigger grid layout on iPad (landscape)
Fix for Apple Pencil not being able to select more than one tile at a time
What’s next?
I’m committed to continuing to make fixes and improving Pixelogic in the coming weeks and months. If you have issues, please reach out and let me know, I’ll do my best to resolve your issue. I’ll also be adding more features and content for Pixelogic+ subscribers, so stay tuned!
A note about feedback
I’ve received a lot of feedback this week and it has been very helpful in prioritizing the right things to fix and address. I’ve been doing my best to respond to them all, though one thing I wanted to bring up is…well, tone. I know many are passionate about Pixelogic and changes to something that has been relatively unchanged for years tends to ignite those passions. Tough feedback is also part of the job. That said, the tone of many of the emails (and App Store reviews) I have received have been discouraging. I’ve been maintaining this app these past 13 years as a sole developer. I don’t have malicious intentions, though I’m not perfect and will make mistakes. Please be patient as I improve the game. I really do want to make it great, and I truly value the community of Pixelogic players that has built up over the years. Without this rewrite, the app would have to be taken down from the App Store. I didn’t want to see that (nor likely you), so I have focused my time on getting Pixelogic to a state where it can thrive for the next decade.
Hang in there with me! Things will improve and get better. Keep sending your feedback! And, if by chance, you have some good things to say, feel free to send those my way as well 🙂.
